We pursue systematic research on diverse mechanical principles, from mobile objects to robotic hands, grounded in the concept of “Topological Mechanisms.” Our work includes omnidirectional drive mechanisms using the spherical “Omni-Ball,” reflex drive systems, edible robot elements, and flexible-rigid switchable hand mechanisms. We also emphasize the creation process of mechanical principles, covering idea generation, design, prototyping, and experiments to realize devices and verify their effectiveness.
